(a) In the absence of provisions to the contrary, all fees and charges for licenses shall be paid in advance at the time application therefor is made to the clerk-treasurer. Except as otherwise provided all license fees shall become part of the general fund of the Town of St. John, and said fees shall be remitted to the clerk-treasurer.

(b) Any person, firm, partnership, corporation, association, agent, or the like maintaining, operating or conducting any business or establishment or doing business or engaging in any activity or occupation in the Town of St. John, Indiana shall pay an annual license fee of seventy-five dollars ($75.00).

A business that fails to apply for an annual business license or renewal on or before the first day of January shall be fined the sum of twenty-five dollars ($25.00), and shall receive an continuing fine of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) on the first day of each month thereafter until a proper application for a business license has been made.

Notwithstanding anything aforesaid to the contrary, all non-profit organizations and/or businesses shall be exempt from the aforesaid fee. A list of such exempt organizations and/or businesses is attached hereto and made a part hereof as Exhibit "A."* However, said list is provided for purposes of example only and is not intended to be all-inclusive. Nothing in the foregoing shall exempt any of said organizations from applying for and obtaining the license required by section 10-2.
