(a) Full-time employees are eligible for group health and life insurance. Employees may add dependents to their group health insurance plan at a higher premium established by the council each year.

(1) Group health benefits begin the first day of the month after the date of hire.

(b) Employees who are at least sixty-five (65) years old, are covered by Medicare and not covered by the Town of St. John's health insurance policy will be reimbursed for the cost of Medicare and Medicare supplements and also for the cost of a vision and dental plan.

(1) The reimbursement amount will not exceed the cost that the Town pays for coverage for other employees.

(2) It is important to note that Medicare coverage is mandatory at age sixty-five (65) for employees of state and local governments who were hired or rehired after March 31, 1986.
