It is helpful for the employee to inform the harasser directly that the conduct is unwelcome and must stop.

If an employee desires to file a harassment or discrimination complaint against anyone in the Town the following procedures shall be followed:

(1) Any employee who believes that he/she has been harassed or discriminated against must report this information to the supervisor as soon as possible.

a. If the charge is against the supervisor, the employee must report this information to the Town Manager as soon as possible.

(2) Upon notification, the Town Manager or his/her designee will conduct a thorough investigation of the alleged incident. The investigation will consist of the following:

a. A written statement from the employee, along with an interview.

b. Interviewing all of the witnesses to the alleged violation.

c. Interviewing the alleged violator.

(3) A written analysis of the investigation will be provided to the employee, alleged violator, and the Town Council.

(4) A Town Council hearing may be conducted to render a final decision, upon the written request of the employee.

a. The Town Council will meet within two (2) weeks of the initial claim.

b. The employee and the alleged violator will have the opportunity to make a statement and provide the Council with additional information if necessary.

c. The Council will render a final disposition at the closing of the hearing.

(5) The Town Council's decision will be final.
