The Town economic development and promotion committee shall consist of at least three (3) members, and not more than nine (9) members. The Town Council shall appoint the members of the Town economic development and promotion committee. members shall be appointed without regard to political affiliation. Further, members shall qualify for membership based on their residency in the Town, business or civic entity ownership or affiliation, and general interest in the growth and economic well-being of the Town, and general welfare and well-being of its residents, or any other criteria deemed appropriate by the Town Council.

Initial appointments to the Town economic development and promotion committee shall be for a term to and including December 31, 2012. Thereafter, appointments to the Town economic development and promotion committee shall be for a one-year period, with each appointment term commencing from the appointment of said members by the Town Council until no later than December 31st of each calendar year.

Members of the Town economic development and promotion committee serve for the purpose of undertaking and implementing strategies and activities for town economic development and promotion purposes, and all related matters. Members of the Town economic development and promotion committee may be removed at anytime, for any reason, with or without cause by the Town Council. The Town Council may assign and designate responsibilities to the Town economic development and promotion committee regarding any related town economic development and promotion matter. The Town Council will annually commit and encumber an amount of funds for use by the Town economic development and promotion committee from appropriate fund sources, upon receipt and approval of a town economic development and promotional plan with budget, for the subsequent calendar year. It is expressly recognized and acknowledged that the members of the Town economic development and promotion committee are volunteers who are providing their time, energy, talent and services to the Town for the benefit of all residents of the Town in its economic development and promotion. There shall be no compensation to the members of the committee for their services rendered to the Town for the purposes set forth herein. The Town Council will annually appoint a town councilmember as liaison to the Town economic development and promotion committee.
