The clerk-treasurer shall be personally responsible only for funds remitted to her office by the office of the zoning administrator for these purposes, and shall not be personally responsible for the funds collected by the office of the zoning administrator; and the Town shall be responsible for and shall indemnify the office of the clerk-treasurer to the extent permitted by law for the funds so remitted by the office of the zoning administrator to the clerk-treasurer under these sections 2-4—2-8.
